About Elaine Corrigan

I am a qualified Play Therapist who follows the Ethical Principles and Guidelines of the British Association of Play Therapists (BAPT) with an MA in Play Therapy from the University of Roehampton.

Before qualifying I worked extensively in Mental Health Nursing within both Adult and Child & Adolescent Services. I am registered with the NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) and have experience within a broad variety of settings including – In-Patient, Drug and Alcohol, Criminal Justice, Early Intervention in Psychosis Services, and Youth Justice Services.

I have worked as a parent-infant therapist, helping caregivers who may be experiencing difficulties, for a variety of reasons, which affect the quality of their relationship with their baby.

I also have experience within the charity sector, delivering therapeutic intervention to children and young people who have experienced domestic violence and sexual abuse.

More recently I have been working part-time for a local hospitals charity-funded post supporting bereaved families who have experienced the loss of a child, and provided staff support onto paediatric intensive care.

I now practice independently, working with schools and looked-after children's services. I have a specific interest in attachment theory, and trauma-informed practice.

My practice is child-centred and I am a passionate advocate for children’s therapeutic needs.
