Services

I offer a free 20 minute initial conversation. This provides an opportunity to explore what support may be needed and whether to proceed with therapy. There is no obligation following this conversation.

Services Offered

  • 1:1 Play therapy for children 3+ - Play Therapy is a child centred and non-directive therapy using play & creative materials. Children are free to communicate their thoughts, feelings and behaviours in their own way, at their own pace. For children words can be too difficult to find, so there is no expectation to talk about their difficulties. The therapist supports the child to explore and resolve some of the themes that come up in their play.
  • 1:1 Creative therapy for adolescents and young adults – Following the model of child-centred play therapy, however aimed at older children/young adults. Creative therapy is a powerful form of therapy that can help to bring talking and creativity together. It is aimed at those for who ‘just talking’ is too challenging.
  • Parent/caregiver consultations – Providing an opportunity to discuss concerns or anxieties about your child and to further explore what may be going on for your child, providing advice and resources where appropriate. Consultations can take place online or on telephone.
  • Professional consultations - For professionals working with healthcare, school, and youth organisations. Providing an opportunity for professionals to reflect on their practice and enhance their skills when working with children and young people who are facing challenges in their lives.
  • Clinical Supervision – This is provided to professionals working with children and young people and families, who would like on-going regular support and a space for reflection on their work. Supervision can be offered on-line or in person.
  • CPRT (Child-Parent Relationship Therapy) – This is an evidence-based 10 session filial therapy model. The aim of CPRT is to strengthen the quality of the parent-child attachment bond as a means of reducing child behaviour problems and stress in the parent-child relationship. CPRT was developed for children ages 3- 10 years but is adapted for use with toddlers and pre-adolescents. Currently offered online alongside Helen Forrester at Mara Play Therapy. This course can be adapted to support individuals and couples.
